Abstract

1521177 Hot top slab FOSECO TRADING AG 10 May 1977 [10 May 1976] 19211/76 Heading D2B [Also in Division C3] A hot top lining slab is formed from a refractory heat-insulating composition which comprises:-(A) 2-15 wt. % fibrous organic material, (B) 1-10 wt. % organic binder, (C) 0 - 20 wt. % inorganic fibrous material, (D) 0-40 wt. % lightweight filler material, (E) and the balance to 100 wt. % of a refractory aggregate comprising a granular alumina and silica ash product having less than 20% free silica and a bulk density of 0.6-0.7 gm/cc. (A) may be repulped newsprint, freshly made paper pulp, mechanical pulp or chemical pulp. (B) may be one or more of phenol formaldehyde resin, urea formaldehyde resin, polyvinyl acetate, polyvinyl alcohol, a natural resin, starch and gum arabic. (C) may be calcium silicate fibre, aluminium silicate fibre, slag wool or rock wool. (D) may be fly ash floaters, pit solids or calcined rice husks. (E) may be a clinker from coal combustion.
