Abstract

151,915. Townshend, F. June 18, 1920. Seat attachments.-A pillion seat e for a motorcycle is supported by spring-connected bell-crank levers c on a frame consisting of longitudinal side members a, a<1> connected at one end by a cross member a<2> and at the other end by a tube a<3>. Two pairs of bolts f, f<1> pass through the side members a, a<1>, one bolt f of each pair passing in the reverse direction to the other bolt f<1>. A nut g<1> or other grip is secured to each bolt to rotate it. Two clips h are on each pair of bolts, one clip sliding on the bolt f and engaging the screw thread on the bolt f<1>, while the other slides on the bolt f<1> and engages the bolt f. The clips are formed with depressions or grooves h<3> and rotation of the bolts moves the clips into engagement with the side members of the carrier. The tube a<3> forms a hand grip for the person on the seat e and may be used to pull the motor-cycle on to the stand.
