Abstract

1514792 Vibration measurement NIPPON SEIKO KK 10 July 1975 27659/77 Divided out of 1514791 Heading G1G For detecting damage in a rotator, e.g. a ballbearing, the cyclically-varying vibration produced as it is rotated is converted to an electrical signal which is applied to a peak detector the D.C. output level of which is periodically reset to zero. A bandpass filter extracts an A.C. component of the varying peak detector output level, which component is indicative of the degree of damage. In the described embodiment the amplified output 1 of a vibration pick-up (microphone) is filtered to remove low frequency components. The filtered signal 2, after AGC amplification, is passed to the peak detector, Fig. 3, (not shown) which is reset to zero at least once in each cycle of variation of the vibration. The peak detector output 4 is band-pass filtered to give A.C. signal 5 indicative of damage. Signal 5 drives a meter, or is rectified for application to a comparator for classifying the rotator as damaged or not.
