Abstract

1499738 Data transmission COMPUTER TRANSMISSION CORP 13 May 1975 20091/75 Heading H4P Apparatus for connecting digital equipment to a D.C. data transmission 100P having at least one pair of conductors comprises a constant current generator connectible to each of said conductors; means for connecting a source of digital data to control the direction of current flow from said generator to said conductors; means for generating a code signal of alternate marks and spaces indicative of one control function; means for generating a plurality of code signals of predetermined lengths of spaces indicative of a plurality of other control functions; and means for introducing said code signals into said connecting means. The arrangement is such that the apparatus generates and transmits control information which is segregated from data, and accomplishes the necessary control functions without the need for data storage devices. Thus, signalling and the establishment of connections, are accomplished using the first mentioned code signal, whilst the second mentioned code signal constituted by trains of spaces represents other control information. The apparatus may include a noise rejection circuit which responds only to the pulse length and does not affect the amplitude of any valid pulses, and it may also include test facilities.
