Abstract

1489571 Systems for transacting property AUTOMATED REAL-TIME INVESTMENTS EXCHANGE Ltd 18 Oct 1974 [18 July 1973] 34229/73 Heading G4A The Specification describes, for the most part in purely functional terms, a data processing system arranged to enable subscribers at a plurality of terminals to enter non-binding expressions of interest in buying or selling property such as stocks and shares, to transmit such entered expressions to other terminals, to enable subscribers to negotiate by transmitting binding bids or offers between terminals, and to transact a sale only on command of a subscriber at a terminal receiving such a bid or offer. Each terminal includes a program controlled processor controlling, inter alia, a C.R.T. display which is divided into sections each displaying respective types of data including "proformas" indicating to the operator the data input format required for a specific operation. The display has a visual cursor which may be backspaced for error correction. The sizes of two of the display sections may be varied relative to each other, either automatically or manually, to accommodate the data. The system is arranged so that the terminals may search the entered expressions of interest for those compatible with a requirement. Alternatively, under command of a terminal entering an expression, the expression may be broadcast to all the terminals. Selected groups of terminals may be excluded from receiving a particular broadcast. Specifications 1,489,572, 1,489,573 and 1,489,574 are referred to.
