1480057 Stirrers, jaw crushers; impact pulverizers VERSCHLEISS-TECHNIK DR ING HANS WAHL 15 July 1974 [13 July 1973 20 Oct 1973 27 Oct 1973] 31226/74 Headings B1C and B2A [Also in Divisions Al, B3 and F2] A process for forming a metallic body e.g. for a concrete mixer or mixer jaw crusher jaw, or a swing hammer with a wear zone comprises securing cutting lamellae, 3, 4, 5, 6, to a base metal 1 to define the zone, the lamellae having blunt or broken cutting edges and each comprising an area in the zone when viewed on the face of the zone in the range 0.1 to 10 cms<SP>2</SP>, the lamellae being of material formed from metallic carbides, nitrides, borides and/ or silicides. The body may be in the form of a plate of cast-iron and a recess 2 is moulded or machined in the plate after it is cast. The lamellae, such as blunt or broken cutting blades, are secured in the recess by soldering or adhesive so as to form the wear zone Alternatively, the lamellae may be embedded or integrally cast in the metallic body. The lamellae may abut one another or be spaced and may have heat expansion joints therebetween. The body may be part of an article such as a flat plate, flat or arched lining, concrete mixer, tine, crushing jaw, brake block or drum, drilling template, wire guide, nozzle, chain, bucket teeth, swing hammer, gyrating chamber, chain guide or sprocket, grinder, conveyor, agricultural tool, mixer, slag rake, snow plough, scraper, washer, pulley etc.
