Abstract

1476889 Golf club heads K MATUKI 27 May 1975 [15 March 1975] 23131/75 Heading A6D [Also in Division C7] A "wood" golf club head comprises a hollow alloy main body 1 having an opening at its bottom, said opening being closed by an alloy sole 2 attached by screws to said main body 1, and the hollow space defined by said main body and sole filled with a foamed plastics material, e.g. urethane plastics. The body 1 and sole 2 are preferably die cast from an aluminium alloy of stated composition. The striking face 3 which preferably is coated with an anodic oxidised film of aluminium oxide is of greater wall thickness than the rest of the body 1 and is strengthened by a reinforcing rib 5 the bottom edge of which extends rearwardly and upwardly from said face 3. The sole 2 has a central annular or ring-shaped projection 14 in which are placed a number of heavy metal disks 20 and held in place by adhesive 21.
