Abstract

1465891 Tractors E M CARTER 6 May 1974 [5 Feb 1973 5 July 1973] 5496/73 and 32150/73 Headings B7D and B7H [Also in Division A1] The front and rear axles 10, 18 of a tractor are interconnected by at least one assembly of telescopic tubes 3 which allow variation in the tractor length, the end tubes being connected to implement mounting plates 4, 5 supported on the axles for vertical movement relative thereto. The tube assembly length is varied by an hydraulically driven screw (Fig. 6, not shown) and the plates 4, 5 are pivoted to the axles by arms 9, 20 and are vertically movable by hydraulic rams and controlled by depth sensors 50, 51 attached to working implements. Some implements, such as a spring tined cultivator, Fig. 10, or the grain separating mechanism of a combine harvester (Figs. 11, 12, not shown) may be mounted between the plates 4, 5 above or below the tube assembly, mounting bars 45 of the implement being engaged in channels 46 on the plates.
