Abstract

1463903 Document and reader ASEA AB 7 May 1974 [8 May 1973] 19996/74 Heading G4M A document 10 such as an identity card which may carry a photograph and alphanumeric characters has a section carrying coded data. The document is read optically (Fig. 2) or magnetically (not shown) and the coded data 20 is fed to a control unit 19 which selects, using control signal 21, data 22 hidden on the document. The coded data may identify the position of the hidden data or may select a part of the concealed data carried by the document or may cause the document to be read according to a predetermined pattern.
