Abstract
1461631 Roof insulation DYNAMIT NOBEL AG 22 Feb 1974 [22 Feb 1973] 8261/74 Heading E1W One or more sheets 4 of cross linked polyethylene foam are laid directly on an unprepared roof surface 3 e.g. of concrete. Where more than one sheet 4 is used the joints are covered with polyethylene or metal sealing strips 7. The edge of the sheet 4 is held down with wooden battens 5. The sheet 4 is between 5mm and 15mm thick and weighs between 30 mg/cm<SP>2</SP> and 100 mg/cm<SP>2</SP>. Polyurethane foam sheets 8 may overlie the polyethylene foam which in turn is covered by plastics sheets 10 thermally or solvent welded to metal flashing 9. The joints between the polythene foam sheets may be welded and the sheets may be secured to the underlying surface 3 by localised softening of the plastics. Loose gravel 11 covers the sheets 10.
