Abstract

1454931 Dealing cards F PIC 27 Aug 1974 [28 Aug 1973] 37424/74 Heading A6H [Also in Division B8] An automatic card dealing machine comprises a stand 1, Fig. 1, including a fixed gear wheel 3, Figs. 1 and 2, carrying a pivot 2 on which is rotatable a stage 5 carrying a toothed ring 6, the stage being rotated by a motor M carried by the stand 1 and rotating a gear wheel 4 engaging the ring 6. The stage carries two slide members 14 supporting the front part of a pile of cards. The stage supports a gear wheel 7 engaging the wheel 8, so that as the stage rotates the wheel 7 is rotated and rotates a crank arm 8, whereby a shuttle member 9 is reciprocated towards and away from the members 14. The member 9 supports the rear part of the pile and carries an impeller 12 which separates one or more cards from the pile and ejects them, so that one or more cards are ejected at each of a plurality of locations as the stage rotates. The pile is weighted by an element 15 which carries a device 21 which blocks the return of the member 9 after the last card has been ejected. The stand 1 is capable of slight rotation on a base 16, and when such rotation is manually produced, a stop 17 on the base engages a switch 18 to start rotation, while when the device 21 blocks the shuttle, the motor causes reverse rotation of the stand on the base to stop the motor. In another form, the stop is carried by the wheel 3 and the switch engaged thereby is mounted on the base 16. The number of cards ejected is controlled by adjusting the impeller 12 and by adjusting the height of a plate 13 by means of a roller 23.
