1454480 Delivering measured quantities of liquid SINANAN ENTERPRISES Ltd 6 Feb 1976 4696/76 Addition to 1447242 Heading B8N A dispenser for delivering measured quantities of liquid (e.g. alcoholic beverages) from a container comprises a measuring vessel 41, a slide valve 43, 44 operable between first and second positions to permit respectively entry of liquid after preventing discharge and discharge of liquid after preventing entry, and latch means including a pair of detents 60, 65 operative to latch the slide valve in the first position and release the slide valve only when the vessel has been filled to a predetermined level. The slide valve 43, 44 may be provided with parts 45, 46, 47 and 48, a partition 49a, a conical valve face 69, a collar 50 and an outlet nozzle 52 complete with a non-returnable ball valve. As shown, the slide valve has been pushed upwardly to cause the liquid in the vessel 41 to be delivered through the ports 48 and cause the conical valve face 69 to shut off the supply from a container which is screwthreaded on to the dispenser at 42. In this upper position, a spring-loaded air inlet valve 69a is opened, a set of cutters 31 are pushed outwardly and a first detent 60 of the latch, Fig. 1, is engaged under the collar 50. The detent 60 is released to terminate the dispensing cycle only when a float 54 falls to cause a ferrous metal insert 56 attached to the float to attract a magnet 63 on the detent. After the release, the slide valve returns to its lower position under the action of a spring 49 where it is held by a second detent 65 of the latch, Fig. 2. Only when the vessel 41 has been properly filled and the float 54 has risen, is the detent 65 disengaged by a magnet 67 to allow a further dispensing operation. The slide valve may be operated electromagnetically instead of manually and by use of an electrically controlled switch, the dispenser may be set to operate once, twice or three times automatically to dispense the measures into one glass. In Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown) a modified resetting device for the cutters consists of a knob (71) which moves downwardly under the action of a spring (36) into its locking position when the cutters are moved outwardly; before a full container is connected, the knob is screwed back so that the cutters can move inwardly under the action of their springs (32).
