1444085 Gaming machines A SHAW 24 Oct 1973 [29 July 1972] 35559/72 Heading G4V A coin-freed gaming machine comprises a random selection device by which at least one symbol is selected from a plurality of symbols and a pay-out mechanism operable in response to a winning selection having been made and further includes or is in association with a further symbol selection devices operable after a winning selection by the first device and effective in the event of a winning selection by the further device to initiate a further pay-out. In the embodiment described the random selection device comprises a "fruit-machine" reel assembly, and the further selection device comprises a display screen 50 bearing fifteen symbols one of which may be illuminated at any one time by a respective lamp 49. A winning further selection occurs when the selected symbol is one which occurred in the winning line on the "fruitmachine". When a winning selection is made by the "fruit-machine" one or more switches 12 are closed to energize a relay 14 and hence energize motor 16 of pay-out selection switch 15, motor 41 of the further selection switch 40 and indicator lamp 32 and condition a push-button 30 for operation by the player to stop, after a predetermined time delay, the motor 41. The switch 15 includes a plurality of cam switches 18 connected to switches 12 and pay-out relays 22 and effective during one revolution of motor 16 to pay out a predetermined number of coins of an appropriate denomination. The switch 40 comprises two rotary switches 43, 51; 44, 52 the stationary contacts of the first being connected to respective lamps 49 and the stationary contacts of the second to particular ones of switches 12. If on stopping of motor 41 wiper 52 is connected to a closed switch 12 the motor 16 is re-energized and a further pay-out identical to the first is made. Alternatively a further payout mechanism may be associated with the further selection device. The further selection device may be reactuated if it makes a winning selection, with the odds against further wins being progressively reduced.
