Abstract

1442718 Valves IPLEX PLASTIC INDUSTRIES PTY Ltd 14 Feb 1974 [14 Feb 1973 19 April 1973 7 May 1973] 6863/74 Heading F2V [Also in Division G3] A drip feed device especially for irrigation purposes, comprises a hollow body 15, Fig. 2, having an outlet 16 and an inlet 6 in the form of a nipple for engagement in an aperture in a water supply line. Flow control means in the body include a spiral groove 10 formed in a surface of the body or of an element 8 as shown, and a resilient pad 11 held against the surface. One end of the groove communicates with the hollow interior of the body and the other end communicates with the outlet. Thus variation in the water supply pressure causes the pad to be held against the surface with greater or lesser force, whereby to adjust the restriction to flow through the groove caused by distortion of the pad into the groove. The element 8 has a slitted skirt portion 9 which partially isolates portion 7 of the hollow interior of the body so that the portion acts as a pressure chamber in which the supply pressure is applied to element 8. The element may be replaced by a helical spring which forces the pad into abutment with a grooved surface of the body, Fig. 5 (not shown). Hook-shaped members 50 connected to the body are for attachment of the device to the supply line, the members being pivoted downwardly about reduced sections 52 and manoeuvred to engage around the line, Fig. 9 (not shown). A cap 62 having holes 64 therein is rotatable about upstanding slotted wall 61 to provide means for controlling the quantity and distribution of the outgoing water-to a number of pipes each connected to a respective one of the holes 64. The body is in two parts attached by lugs 21 on one part engaging over shoulders 22 on the other part, the parts being separable for cleaning by relative rotation to disengage the lugs and shoulders.
