Abstract
1441445 Controlling vehicles CROWN CONTROLS CORP 31 Aug 1973 [1 Sept 1972] 41214/73 Heading B7H A fork lift truck is provided with a control device 30 having a single lever 32 for controlling vehicular and non-vehicular functions, the lever being mounted for rotation about two orthogonal axes movement about one axis controlling forward or reverse motion and movement about the other selectively controlling fork lift or tilt independence on the position of a selector button 105. A block 35 pivotally mounted on a horizontal shaft 40 in a yoke 45 supports lever 32, the yoke 45 being pivotally mounted by a vertical shaft 79. Block 35 carries a shaft 48 connected via a ball bearing 53 to an arm 50 which is mounted at 57 on a plate 55 pivoted at 65 to support 67. Movement of lever 32 about the axis defined by shaft 40 causes pivoting of plate 55 and this movement is transferred to a control spool 70 of an hydraulic valve 70. A selector button 105 on the lever grip 20 controls actuation of a further valve (110) (Fig. 3, not shown) which determines whether fluid from valve 75 passes to the fork lift or tilt circuits. When lever 32 is pivoted about shaft 79 a gear 85 on the shaft rotates pinions 87, 88 which are respectively connected to means controlling forward/reverse movement and speed (Figs. 6, 7, not shown). The selector button 105 on lever grip 20 is connected in an electrical circuit including a switch 117 controlled by the valve spool 70. this switch closes to actuate an hydraulic supply pump (115) (Fig. 3) only when the lever is moved about the axis defined by shaft 40. If switch 105 is not depressed before movement of lever 32 power passes to a relay 130A which closes switch 132, to hold the relay, and opens switch 133. In this state fluid is directed via the further valve (110) to the fork lift circuit. If switch 105 is first depressed power passes via switch 133 to relay 131B which closes switches 134, 135. Power may then pass to a solenoid (110T) which moves further valve (110) to supply the fork tilt circuit. A horn button 104, or further control switch may be provided on the grip 20. Steering of the truck is controlled by a separate lever.
