Abstract

1438963 Electroluminescence DEFENCE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 20 Feb 1974 [22 Feb 1973] 8707/73 Heading C4S [Also in Division G5] An electroluminescence panel with crossed conductor arrays comprises a transparent substrate 1 with slots 3 each containing an opaque glass layer 5, Al conductor 7 and areas 9 of photoconductive material; conductors 11 on the substrate parallel to conductors 7; areas 13 of dielectric material; transparent conductive layers 15 extending over the p.c. areas 9; electroluminescence phosphor strips 17 and conductive strips 19 extending perpendicular to the other strips. The electroluminescence material is of ZnS : Mn particles coated with Cu and having light emitting high resistivity regions produced by the application of increasing D.C. current as described in Specification 1,300,548. Selected elements may be energized or erased (see Divisions G4-G6).
