Abstract

143,840. Leconte, E. G. May 27, 1919, [Convention date]. Counters and like stands.-Consists in an article of furniture which can be readily assembled or disassembled and converted into another article, comprising a number of superposed shelves supported by uprights which are connected together in alinement by screw-threaded rods and sockets provided at opposite ends of each upright, the rod at one end of each upright situated between two shelves passing through a hole in the adjacent shelf and screwing into the socket on the next upright. The number of shelves and uprights can be varied as desired. Fig. 2 shows in end view a music rack comprising a series of shelves a<1> - - a<5>, separated bv uprights b which are connected as shown in Fig. 5. Each. connexion comprises a screw d screwed into one end of an upright b and having a reduced portion d' passing through a shelf and into an internallythreaded socket c screwed into the adjacent upright. Terminals b<1>, b<2> are screwed on to the upper and lower sets of uprights, and a set of partitions c mortised between the shelves a<3>, a<4> is provided. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a), the invention is stated to be applicable for constructing counters. The screws and sockets may be integral with the uprights when these are made of metal. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
