Abstract

1437217 Microprogram controlled processor SIEMENS AG 1 Aug 1973 [4 Aug 1972] 36582/73 Heading G4A A microprogram controlled processor has a read only store containing microinstructions, and a working (read/write) store containing diagnostic microprogram instructions and is arranged, in response to a predetermined count (e.g. 0) in a counter which is arranged to be loaded under microprogram control and decremented as each microinstruction is executed, to switch to operation under the control of the diagnostic microprogram in the working store, completion of the diagnostic microprogram causing a switch back to operation under control of the microinstruction from the read only memory. A one bit indicator store, loaded under microprogram control or manually, indicates whether the processor is operating under the control of the read only or working store microprograms. The counter may also be loaded manually.
