Abstract

1436925 Colour television tubes HITACHI Ltd 22 Feb 1974 [4 May 1973] 8095/74 Heading H1D The static and dynamic convergence arrangement of a colour television tube having three in-line guns comprises a polepiece assembly having first and second pairs of magnetic segments 3 and 6 arranged at right angles in a common plane, with the segiments of pair 6 spaced apart in the vertical deflection direction. As shown in Fig. 5, the assembly is mounted in a non-magnetic cylindrical cage 5 which, together with the supporting members 4 may be of stainless steel, pair 3 being convex towards the tube axis, and pair 6 having vertically aligned control webs 6b. The use of the arrangement permits vertical dynamic convergence to be dispensed with, and horizontal dynamic convergence to be effected by using a magnetizing current (Fig. 8, not shown) of symmetrical waveform, e.g. parabolic. Reference is made to the use of the arrangement in wide-angle deflection tubes, and in tubes utilizing deflection coils of saddle form.
