Abstract
1429625 Automatic control of speed ESSEX INTERNATIONAL Inc 16 May 1973 [29 Dec 1972] 41289/75 Divided out of 1375218 Heading G3R The description of this Specification is identical to that of the parent Specification 1375218 the claims relating to maintaining an engine operating characteristic at a predetermined value by adjusting the fuel supply. As described, the engine speed is maintained at a constant desired speed by storing a desired digital number representing the desired engine speed, converting the engine speed at a first point in time into a first digital number, converting the engine speed at a second, later point in time into a second digital number, producing a first logic signal L2 if the second digital number is greater than the desired digital number, producing a second logic signal L 1 if the second digital number is less than the desired digital number, producing a third logic signal L3 or L5 if the second digital number is greater than the first digital number, producing a fourth logic signal L4 or L6 if the second digital number is less than the first digital number, storing a delta digital number representing a small change in the quantity of fuel normally supplied to the engine, changing the amount of fuel supplied in an amount proportional to the delta digital number in response to the first L2 and fourth L6 logic signals, or in response to the second L1 and third L3 logic signals, and changing the amount of fuel supplied in an amount proportional to the inverse of the value of the delta digital number in response to the first L2 and third L5 logic signals or in response to the second L1 and fourth L4 logic signals.
