Abstract

1428847 Conveyer systems; trolleys REDMAN FISHER ENG Ltd 6 Feb 1974 [30 March 1973] 15537/73 Heading B7L In or for a conveyer of the kind comprising a track which includes two channel section portions 10, 11 which extend side-by-side with their open mouths facing each other and at least one trolley having a body 18 on which are mounted load bearing wheels 33 for running within the portions 10, 11, the or each trolley 18 comprises carrying means 34, 35 for front and rear wheel pairs 33 and the body 18 of the trolley is formed, within the tract, with forward and rearward open-ended slots 38, 39 to releasably and slidably receive the means 34, 35, so that the latter together with a pair of wheels 33 may be withdrawn from the body 18 whilst the load bearing wheels still remain engaged with the track. The body 18 includes vertical plates 19, 20 separated by spacers 21 and connected at their forward and rearward ends by upper and lower apertured bosses 44, 45 through which pass vertical spindles 42, 43 the latter being screwed into the bosses 44 and readily releasable therefrom. The carrying means 34, 35 are also apertured to receive the spindles 42, 43 and when the means are in the slots 38, 39 they are positioned between the upper bosses 44 and spacers 51 on the lower bosses 45. Each means 34, 35 has a respective slot 40, 41 to engage a spacer 21 and thereby prevent transverse movement of the means 34, 35 relative to the plates 19, 20. The spindle 42 carries upper and lower guide wheels 48, 50 to engage in upper and lower track gaps 17, 16. The spindle 43 has a lower guide wheel 50 but at its upper end has an operating member 49 for co-operating with an oncoming trolley. The trolleys are driven by dogs 12 on an overhead power element. If both pairs of wheels 33 and means 34, 35 are to be removed from the body 18 then means will be provided thereon to engage with the top flanges 15 of the track portions 10, 11, to prevent the body 18 from dropping out of the track. When a means 34 or 35 and its wheels, are released from the body they may be rotated to align the axis of the wheels with the track whereafter the unit(s) can be passed through the track gap 16.
