Abstract

1425964 Coded labels D P FOSS 27 June 1973 [29 June 1972] 30559/73 Heading B8F [Also in Division G1] A container for samples of for example blood or urine to be analysed comprises a container having one or more coatings or foils of a magnetizable material in or on a wall of the container, the coating or foil being arranged as a belt around the container. In the embodiment shown, there is a slot 3 in the coating or foil for use as a reference point; alternatively the coating or foil may include a strip of aluminium foil or the container itself may have a reference point. A pad of resilient material may be provided between the coating or foil and the container to provide uniform support for one or more magnetic heads used to scan the magnetizable material. In use, the container is placed in apparatus which turns it mechanically while the reading head or heads are in contact with the belt.
