Abstract

1415642 Two-part couplings BELLING & LEE Ltd 30 Nov 1972 [24 Sept 1971] 44600/71 Heading H2E The insulating mounting member A of an electrical connector for mounting on a conductive panel 15 has an annular portion 1 and resilient arms 5, 5a terminating in jaws 6, 6a, extending respectively above and below an apertured floor 4. The annular portion 1 has flats 3, 3a at the rim and cut-outs 2, 2a beneath, for engaging a suitable mating connector. The arms 5, 5a have inward ribs 10 with shoulders 11 below the level of the upper face of the panel 15. The connecting member B comprises a contact 21 mounted in an insulator 22 having recesses 24 defining downward shoulders 27, and opposed recesses 25 defining upward shoulders 26, 26a. The connecting member B becomes secured in the mounting member A when inserted from above, by distorting the arms 5, 5a until the jaws 6, 6a partly close above the shoulders 26, 26a, just as the shoulders 27 abut the shoulders 11. The distortion of the arms 5, 5a also secures the mounting member A to the panel 15.
