Abstract
1415318 Udder spray device HOSIER EQUIPMENT (COLLINGBOURNE) Ltd 17 Dec 1973 [28 Dec 1972 31 Jan 1973] 59894/72 and 4891/73 Heading AIM A spray arm 23 of a spray device swings from an inoperative position (dotted line) to an operative position (full lines), between the hind legs of a cow by the action of a vacuum operated piston device 15 or an electric motor and in so doing pulls a chain 20 which opens a control valve 19, via operating lever 21, allowing heated water to pass through a hose 18 to a swing arm 10 and hence to the upwardly directing spray nozzles 24. The water may contain a sanitation liquid which enters at a Venturi mixing unit 27 from a container 26 at the base of the swing arm 10, or in another embodiment it can enter upstream of the swingable arm 10 where it is displaced from a flexible bag inside a container by water which enters the container between the bag and the container wall. The system can be automatically controlled when the spray device is used in a rotary milking parlour.
