Abstract
1411002 Fluid-pressure servomotor systems SPERRY RAND CORP 16 Jan 1973 [17 Jan 1972] 2163/73 Heading G3P A ship's rudder 12 is connected to a motor 22 shifted by a pump 34 having its displacement controlled by a servomotor 70 with a control valve in a bridge circuit 114, 116 in which one pair of resistances is controlled by a valve 45 in accordance with a command signal and a further pair is controlled by a valve 136 in accordance with pump displacement. An electric motor 36 drives the pump 34 which is connected to the motor 22 through lines 28, 30 and a solenoidoperated blocking valve 32 and a further pump 38 supplying pilot fluid to a biasing piston 66 for the main pump and to the valve 136. Pilot fluid may also be supplied to the lines 28, 30 through a priority valve 76, check-valves 80, 88 low and highpressure relief valves 82, 86 and pilot operated relief valves 90, 92. The valve 45 receives its command signal from an actuator piston 52 through a pin 134, an arm 54 and a shaft 110 and a feedback signal from the motor 22 through a link 26 and the valve body 46. A valve 40 electrically controlled by a manual or automatic pilot 94 and receiving pilot fluid through a line 42 operates the actuator piston 52 which provides an electrical feedback signal to the pilot through a synchromotor 64 and lines 100. Speed of movement of the piston 52 is limited by adjustable throttles 62 while extent of movement is limited by valves (142) Fig. 4 (not shown), operated by axiallyextending rods (140) on the piston. Relief valves 18 and a by-pass valve 20 are provided for the motor 22.
