Abstract

1409053 Spring clips NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP 20 Sept 1972 [24 Sept 1971] 10797/72 Divided out of 1409051 Heading E2B [Also in Division A5R] A spacer device 10 in combination with the stem 14 of a prosthetic device to be secured in the medullary canal in a bone comprises an annular base member 11 having at least three spring members 12 extending therefrom the spring members extending in a direction generally parallel with the axis of the annular base but in a mutually divergent manner. In use the base member 11 of the device is threaded over the stem 14 of a prosthetic device 13 and passed partway along the stem with the spring members 12 directed away from the tip of the stem. The device 13 is then placed into the canal where it is to be secured by a cementitious, gap filling agent and the spring members engage the wall of the canal to maintain the stem centrally disposed in the canal.
