Abstract

1405425 Hydraulic presses MANNESMANN-MEER AG 25 Aug 1972 [27 Aug 1971] 40308/71 Heading B3E [Also in Division B5] A press comprises a plurality of hydraulic cylinder/ram assemblies, each cylinder constituting or supporting a press tool, and being movable to apply pressure to a workpiece, the axes of movement of the cylinders lying in a plane, and the cylinders. being linked by two beams anchored to the cylinders and arranged on opposite sides of the plane. The press described is for bending U-section blanks to O- section by tools 21, 22 in pipe manufacture. The press frame comprises sub-frames composed of plates 2 held in parallel spaced relationship by bolts 3 and diaphragms 4. Each ram is secured to the frame by studs 6, a plate 8, and a pressure distribution pad 9. The cylinders 10 are secured together by beam assemblies 17 each composed of two plates secured together and inserted in recesses 18 in the cylinders and adjustably located by packing 19. The working stroke is effected by admission of hydraulic fluid to connections 12, and the reverse stroke is by cylinders 15.
