Abstract

1394368 2-Amino-3-nitro-thiophene derivatives IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 15 Jan 1973 [28 Jan 1973] 57676/72 Divided out of 1394365 Heading C2C [Also in Division C4] 2 - Amino - 3 - nitro - 5 - carbamoylthiophene is obtained by reacting 2-bromo-3-nitrothiophene-5-carboxylic acid with thionyl chloride, and subsequently with ammonia. 2-Amino-3- nitro - 5 - (N - phenylcarbamoyl) - thiophene is obtained analogously, reacting first with aniline and subsequently with ammonia to replace the bromine atom by an amino group. 2 - Amino - 3 - nitro - 5 - methoxycarbonylthiophene is prepared by esterifying 2-bromo-3- nitrothiophene-5-carboxylic acid and reacting the bromoester with conc. aq. ammonia in the presence of dimethyl formamide. 2 - Amino - 3 - nitro - 5 - (# - methoxyethoxycarbonyl)thiophene is prepared by a transesterification reaction.
