Abstract

138,405. Thompson, T. Jan. 16, 1919. Check or non-return valves.-A loose ball suction or delivery valve for pumps, of the kind designed to give a constant area of flow when the valve is open, has the casing divided transversely into two parts a, b, secured together by flanges a<1>, b<1> and bolts c, and is provided internally with guides g to maintain the ball valve f in the axial line. The Figure shows the invention adapted for use as a suction valve, and with the part b formed with a grid-like extension d. The upward movement of the valve is limited by a stop i streamline in form and supported by webs h. The valve is also applicable as a fixed delivery valve or as a reciprocating delivery valve in pumps of the type in which a tubular barrel with valve is reciprocated in suction and delivery pipes.
