Abstract

1377444 Pressure casting machines INSTITUTE PO METALOZNANIE I TECHNOLOGIA NA METALITE 18 Feb 1972 [20 Feb 1971] 7725/72 Heading B3F In a machine in which molten metal is forced, by gas pressure in a chamber 9, into a mould 6 against the action of a counter-pressure existing in the mould, the mould is located in a chamber 7 having wall sections 3 and 5 movable teleseopically with respect to one another. The upper part of the mould 6 and the movable wall section 5 are connected to the piston-rod 2 of an hydraulic cylinder. Rubber sealing rings 4 and 8 are located between the section 5 and the fixed sections of the chamber 7. In operation the gas pressure in the chamber 7 provides the force necessary for holding the mould in its closed position as a result of the different diameters D 1 and D 2 of the various sections of the chamber 7.
