Abstract

1372714 Watches CENTRE ELECTRONIQUE HORLOGER SA 8 Oct 1971 [20 Oct 1970] 47047/71 Heading G3T In an electronic watch, manual control means are provided by which data signals corresponding to the value shown on an electronic display are transferred into logic circuitry for further use. Fig.2 shows an arrangement with a seconds display formed by sixty electro-luminescent diodes 6. Depression of push-button 5 to actuate a switch 8 closes AND gates 7 and causes the value shown by the seconds display to be transferred to a counting and decoding circuit 2 to correct the minutes, hours, or date indication. The circuit 2 is normally driven by a time-base 1. In an alternative embodiment, a matrix 40 normally displays the minutes under control of a counter 41 but may be changed over by a pushbutton switch 49 to show the output of a counter 44 driven by an auxiliary pulse generator 43. The generator 43 may be of fixed or variable frequency or may be a simple switch arrangement to advance the counter 44 under manual control. When the desired value is reached, push-button 50 is released and a further button 47 pressed to transfer the indicated value. This arrangement may be used to set a time display or to enter data into an auxiliary calculator in the watch. A further embodiment has an independent display matrix (69), Fig.6 (not shown) controlled by an independent counter (70) via a transcoder (71). The counter (70) is first actuated until the displayed value corresponds to a code reference of a desired function e.g. setting of minutes. This function reference is then stored in a memory unit (81) and the counter (70) further actuated to display the value which it is desired to transfer. This value may then be transferred to the display which has been selected by the function reference. The adjusted function may be the division ratio of the timepiece counting chain, thus regulating the watch. Suggested functions which may be provided in a watch using the invention are a simple calculator or data store, indication of atmospheric pressure, acceleration, or wearer's pulse rate, or control of a radio receiver, dictaphone, or personnel location apparatus.
