Abstract
1372060 Processing fish NORDISCHER MASCHINENBAU RUD BAADER 31 Dec 1971 61045/71 Heading A2U The skeleton of a fish remaining after filleting is cut to separate the dorsal and belly extensions of the vertibrae from the vertibral column, or at least from that part of the column in the region of the abdominal cavity. The dorsal and belly extensions may then be pressed to recover flesh. The method may be performed by manually handled, power driven scissors or a circular saw, or by an arrangement, Fig. 4 (not shown), in which the skeleton is drawn by hand past rotary cutters or an endless band knife to make a cut so that the skeleton is divided into one part comprising the vertibral column in the region of the abdominal cavity and a second part comprising the remainder of the skeleton. Fig. 1 shows a combined filleting and skeleton-cutting machine in which fish 27 are advanced tail first by conveyer elements 22 between guides 26, bellyslitting cutters 23, back-slitting cutters 24, and inclined rib cutters 25 for the severance of two fillets 28, and the skeletons are then conveyed between upper and lower pairs of guides 6, 12 to a station at which further cutters 18, 19 sever the dorsal and belly extensions 31, 32. The cutters 18, 19 may be circular discs, as shown, or pairs of shears or endless band knives. Alternative conveyor means for the fish may comprise a tail clamp, or bands, rollers or discs with serrations or prongs.
