Abstract

1371520 Assembling cathode-ray tubes SONY CORP 29 Oct 1971 [30 Oct 1970] 50487/71 Heading C1M A cathode-ray tube having a circular crosssection neck 1 and a funnel 2 having a larger rectangular end and a smaller circular end 13 is assembled by utilizing a jig comprising a circular seat 6 from which extends a pair of arms terminating in annular holding members 7a, 7b so arranged that with the circular end 13 located in the seat 6 and the neck 1 held between the annular members 7a, 7b the geometric centre of the circular end is aligned with the geometric axis of the neck. The jig also includes a third arm 16 extending from the seat which terminates in an L-shaped flange 14, the flange serving to locate a rectangular screen in a plane parallel with the circular seat 6 and with the axis of the neck part passing through its centre. The neck, funnel and screen are sealed together using frit glass.
