Abstract

1370626 Stabilized peroxygen compounds LAPORTE INDUSTRIES Ltd 24 Jan 1972 [27 Jan 1971] 3240/71 Heading C1A [Also in Division C5] An unstable particulate inorganic peroxygen compound (A) is at least partially stabilized against decomposition on storage, by means of a water-dispersible layer consisting of less than 15% by wt. based on the enveloped peroxygen compound of a water-insoluble organic substance (B). Compounds (A) are less stable to decomposition than sodium perborate tetrahydrate. Specified are adducts of alkali metal salts with hydrogen peroxide, e.g. sodium percarbonate, sodium per-pyrophosphate, sodium per-tripolyphosphate and potassium per-monosulphate. Substance (B) may be a C8-C26 fatty acid, which may be hydrogenated, or a mixture thereof, e.g. as obtained from coconut or other oils, a glycerol ester of such acids; an alkanolamide derivative of such acids, e.g. laurie acid monoethanolamide or monopropanolamide; an aliphatic alcohol containing at least 12C atoms, polyvinyl alcohol or paraffin wax. The peroxygen particles (A) may be coated by (1) immersing the particles in a solution of the substance (B) in an organic solvent (1) spraying the particles with a solution of the substance (B) in an organic solvent (3) spraying the particles with the molten substance (B) in a heated or unheated fluidized bed.
