1364127 Humidifier CAPE ENG CO Ltd 11 Dec 1972 [11 Dec 1971] 57633/71 Heading B1R [Also in Divisions A5 and F4] A humidifier for treating air with water vapour comprises a water vapour generating chamber 1 having a water inlet formed by a pipe connector 3, pipe connectors 2, (2'), Fig. 4 (not shown), above the pipe connector 3 to which an air inlet pipe and an air delivery pipe may be respectively connected, and a socket formed by a pipe 4 open at an outside wall 7 of the chamber, the humidifier further comprising an electrical heating element 8 which is inserted in the pipe 4 but may be withdrawn from the pipe 4; in use the chamber is filled with water to a level below the top of the chamber and the heating element evaporates the water to produce water vapour which is introduced into an air stream passing from the pipe connector 2 to the pipe connector (2'). As shown the chamber has a second socket formed by a pipe 5 for receiving the probe 9 of a thermostat 10' which controls the heating element. The thermostat includes a switch device for interrupting the electrical supply to to the heating element if the chamber should empty of water. The heating element and the probe are mounted on an electrical supply head 10 which may be detachably secured by clips (not shown) against the wall 7 of the chamber. The electrical supply head may include a battery or a mains-rechargeable cell, or it may be provided with an electrical supply cable 14. The upper wall of the chamber carries a pipe 11 forming a socket for receiving the stem 12 of a removable thermometer 13.
