Abstract

1360975 Non-woven structures; fireproofing IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 24 Aug 1971 [9 Sept 1970] 43152/70 Headings D1P and D1R [Also in Division E1] A membrane for a suspended ceiling (Division E1) comprises a non-woven web produced from a fibrous web of 50% polypropylene monofilament and 50% composite filament having a core of polypropylene sheathed in polycaprolactam. The fibres are softened with steam and passed through rollers. The membrane is fire proofed by passing into a bath containing butadiene/styrene latex; antimony oxide; titanium dioxide; and a fire retardant composition of ammonium bromide and a solution of a phenol terminated polyethylene oxide in ammonia. The membrane is subsequently dried between infra-red heaters.
