Abstract

1360633 Beverage dispensers MARS Ltd 16 Feb 1972 [19 Feb 1971] 5014/71 Heading A4T [Also in Division B8] Fluent solid material in container 1 flows under gravity into tube 4 via one or more apertures 5, and is discharged therefrom via a vortex chamber 8 by a quantity of pressure gas e.g. air admitted via inlet 7. The illustrated device may be used in a beverage dispensing machine, and the material may be a powdered flavouring ingredient. The device may include a valve which, when actuated by a coin, releases pulse of gas 1 to effect discharge of the ingredient into a mixing bowl. If the container 1 has a closed top, the part of each gas pulse which passes through the holes into the container to agitate the material will return into the tube upon termination of the pulse to assist flow of material into the tube.
