Abstract

1350767 Securing carpets to floors GRIPPERRODS Ltd 29 July 1971 [29 July 1970] 36713/70 Heading A4S A carpet fastener comprises staggered rows of carpet-engaging prongs 2 which are pressed and bent up from a metal base plate 1 each prong having a rounded tip and a pair of lateral barbs 2a. The root of each prong is pressed out at 2b to form a strengthening rib. In modifications the prongs have more than one pair of barbs, or have a radial shape in plan view, and apertures 3 are of rectangular or other shape, and additional apertures may be provided to reduce weight, provide apertures for securing nails or screws or facilitate division of the plate into desired lengths. In a further modification each prong has a double curvature having tip and root portions directed at right angles to the plate and connected by an oblique portion.
