Abstract

1337867 Back-pressure filling machines SEITZ-WERKE GmbH 19 April 1971 [20 Feb 1970] 22219/71 Heading B8T The filling elements of a back-pressure filling machine each have an electrical control switch to close a liquid supply valve when a bottle has been filled to a predetermined height. The bottle is pushed up into a tulip 26 which itself is forced against the bottom of a filling element 13, the container being sealed by the rubber member 25. During this operation, a switch 27 is actuated and the solenoid 49 opens an inlet 47 to fluid which flows into a space 48 and raises the piston 45 and hence the valve body 41. This movement breaks the seal between the body 41 and a seat 40 which allows pressure gas from the container 10 to enter the bottle via a bore 21. When the pressure in the container 10 and the bottle is almost balanced, the valve body 19 is moved upwards by the spring 31 until it reaches a stop 38. In doing so, a switch 39 is influenced to actuate the control switch 57, which has switching means (not shown) associated with it. When the body 19 rises, liquid can flow from the container 10 into the bottle, the gas escaping through an orifice 43 in a gas pipe 42 and to the atmosphere or a storage vessel by way of a bore 44 and a conduit 55. When the level of liquid in the bottle reaches the switch 57, the solenoid 49 is actuated to close the inlet 47 and open inlet 46, and thus the piston 45 and the valve bodies 41, 19 are pushed back to their original positions. The excess liquid in the annular gap 23 is led off via the gas line 42, 44, 55, the excess pressure gas in the bottle escaping in the same way. The height of the control switch 57 can be adjusted to achieve the desired level of liquid in the bottle. If desired, after the filling operation, an inert gas can be introduced to the liquid-free area of the bottle by means of a solenoidoperated valve (70) (Figs. 2, 3, not shown).
