Abstract
1337492 Slip-casting A G HAYEK & PARTNERS Ltd 3 March 1972 [5 March 1971] 6120/71 Heading B5A The slip-casting of sanitary ware is speededup by drying out the freshly formed article in the mould by means of ducted warm air; the mould may then be similarly dried after removal of the casting. An installation comprises a casting bench 10 on which the moulds are placed, supported on rollers 22 so that they may be subsequently transferred to a conveyer. Each mould comprises a foot 20a, sides 20b and top 20c which has an opening to receive first the ceramic slip from a feed pipe 24 and then the hood 26 of a warm air inlet duct 28. The outlet from the mould 20d is connected to an exhaust duct 30. After drying, the mould is disconnected from the ducts and moved forward on to a transfer platform 14, which may either be wheelmounted and free standing or may move along a track. A lifting device transfers the mould to a roller conveyer and stillage 12, the mould foot being removed when the mould is lifted up. The mould is then dismantled, the casting removed and the mould re-assembled on the casting platform and dried out by re-connection to the warm air ducting. The draining off of surplus slip after casting may be performed in the manner described in Specification 1,337,493.
