Abstract

1337123 Electrostatic printing apparatus XEROX CORP 1 Dec 1970 [5 Dec 1969] 56963/70 Headings B8R RL R222 R247 R276 R278 and R296 Copy sheet 12 receives an electrostatic toner image from xerographic drum 10 while held by suction on the surface of impression cylinder 18, which is electrically biased to assist transfer of toner from the drum 10 to the sheet 12. Preferably the impression cylinder has a resilient surface layer 26 with pin-holes which permit air to pass through it and an apertured electrically conductive screen 24 over-lying an apertured insulating hollow core 20. Within the cylinder 18 a separate suction means 52 applies an enhanced suction to the leading edge of the copy sheet 12, which is received in an indentation 60, and is reversed after printing to eject the sheet edge and pass it to an output belt 16.
