Abstract

1335717 Latches SIEMENS AG 28 April 1971 [29 April 1970 18 June 1970] 11786/71 Heading E2A [Also in Division F4] The housing 11, Figure 10, of a road traffic light signal is closed by a pivoted door 12 having two catches 12a engageable in openings 11b in the housing wall. The catches are carried by an elastically deformable ledge 12b so that as the door is pressed into the housing the chamfered edges 12c of the catches run over the front edge 11c of the housing and deform the ledge until the catches snap into the openings. Inward movement of the door is arrested by a stop (lid) in the housing. The door can be opened by inserting a screwdriver blade between the ledge 12b and the housing wall 11a to deform the ledge away from the wall and release the catches from the openings. When the screwdriver is withdrawn the friction between it and the ledge pulls the door out of the housing. A reflector 3, Figure 6, is pivotally mounted inside the housing on bearing pins 5a which are carried by elastically deformable ribs 5 and engage in apertures 6a in the reflector. The reflector is also provided with two angled openings 8a adapted to receive catches 7a carried by elastically deformable fixing ribs 7 projecting from the housing wall. Limit ribs 9 also project from the housing wall to centre the reflector during fastening.
