Abstract

1327715 Tape reels VSESOJUZNY NAUCHNO-ISSLEDOVATELSKY KINOFOTO-INSTITUT 23 Nov 1971 54333/71 Heading B8M [Also in Division G5] To assist in securing the end of a film or tape 5, a core or hub on which it is to be wound includes a pivoted flap 16, Fig. 3, which cooperates with external means so as to open or close according to the sense of rotation of the core or hub. As shown, the flap 16 carries a roller 20 which opens the flap by entering a recess 48, Fig. 8, in a cylindrical cam surface 47. If the film or tape fails to be secured and allows the flap 16 to open again, the roller 20 engages a lever 50 which operates a switch 53 to stop the drive. Reversal of rotation of the drive shaft 9 frictionally drives an arm 54, Fig. 9, between stops 56 and 57 so as to open or close the cam recess 48 and operate a switch 62 to start or stop the drive to a second core or hub. The film or tape 5 may be endless, double-wound on each core or hub with a loop trapped by each flap 16, and continuously driven, Fig. 12 (not shown).
