1326019 Spray drying of ferrite particles JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd 9 Dec 1970 [31 Dec 1969] 63411/69 Heading B1B Also in Division H1] A spray-drying apparatus comprises a chamber provided with feed inlet, a hot air inlet, product outlet and contains an air turbine rotor 13. In operation, an aqueous slurry of solid particles, fed in at 11 is dispersed into droplets by the rapidly spinning rotor. The droplets are evaporated by a counterflow of air at e.g. 250‹C so that free-flowing solid exits at 14. The apparatus is used to dry an aqueous slurry of ferrite particles on the manufacture of permanent magnets (see Division H1).
