Abstract

1316933 Packaging machines MOLINS MACHINE CO Ltd 4 Sept 1970 [5 Sept 1969] 44089/69 Heading B8C In an apparatus for transferring packages 30 from a first 5, to a second 1, rotary conveyer 1 the conveyers being mounted on parallel axes, disposed in the same plane, and rotatable in the same sense, identical carriers 8 are mounted at the outer ends of arms 6a-6d of an intermediate package-transfer rotor 6 which rotates on an axis 7 in an opposite sense to the carriers 5, 1 each carrier being operated on by cam mechanisms to enable it to pick up a package from the conveyer 5 at station B and transfer it into a corresponding mould recess 2 in the conveyer 1 at station C. The peripheries of the rotor 6 and the conveyers 5, 1 respectively at the stations B and C travel in the same direction and, at the same speed. Each carrier comprises a carrier body 9 with a cam wheel 32 which is urged by a spring 31 to run in a first cam 34 and having an integral arm 14 which carries a second cam wheel 32 which co-operates with the outer cam surface of a double-sided cam 13 the cam 34 determining the radial position of the carrier 9 and the differential variations between the cams 13 and 39 causing the carrier 9 to pivot and alter its attitude so that it approaches the conveyers 5, 1 tangentially. An arm 16 pivoted, at 33, to the carrier 9 carries a stabilizing roller 15 which runs along the inner track of the cam 13. Grippers 18, 19 which close at station B to pick up a package 30 and which open at station C as a package is introduced into a corresponding recess 2, are pivoted to the carrier respectively at 20, 21, have meshing toothed segments 22, 23, and are urged into their open positions respectively by springs 24, 25 the gripper 18 having a cam-wheel 26 which cooperates with a cam 27 to sequentially open and close the grippers 18, 19. A drag-link 10 is pivoted at one end to the respective arm 6a-6d and at the other end to the associated carrier 9.
