Abstract
1311321 X-ray tubes GENERAL ELECTRIC CO Ltd 1 Dec 1970 [26 Jan 1970] 3707/70 Heading H1D In a rotating anode X-ray tube, the anode has two or more concentric target tracks of different materials, a selected one of which is bombarded by electrons from the cathode. The anode shown comprises a molybdenum disc 1 provided with a recess filled with tungsten 3 or a tungstenrhenium alloy. The cathode comprises two directly heated filaments 5 and 6 radially in line and equidistant from the outer part of the disc. In operation the outer track 3 is used for the production of hard X-rays with an anode voltage of 40-150 kv., and the molybdenum target track 4 is used to produce softer X-rays with an anode voltage of 25-40 kv. The cathode may include a third electron source to provide a dual focus arrangement for the tungsten target track. One of the target tracks may be differently inclined relative to the axis.
