Abstract

1306609 Combine harvesters DEERE & CO 29 Oct 1970 [30 Oct 1969] 51513/70 Heading A1F [Also in Divisions Fl and F2] The harvesting platform of a combine harvester (not shown) is supported from the main body by a hydropneumatic piston-cylinder unit in which the piston rod 11 is hollow, contains gas in a flexible container 12 and is in permanent hydraulic communication with the cylinder 10. The cylinder 10 is pivotally connected to the front axle of the combine harvester and the piston rod 11 is pivotally connected to the platform. By supplying liquid through a port 30 the unit extends to raise the platform. Thereafter the unit acts as a shock absorber, because of the presence of the gas, until the liquid is exhausted from the unit to lower the platform. The flexible container 12 is charged with gas through a non-return valve 33.
