Abstract
1304536 Electric selective signalling HONEYWELL Inc 8 July 1970 [8 Oct 1969] 33209/70 Heading G4H A system for controlling and supervizing the operation of an air conditioning system comprises a central station 13 having temperature indicating apparatus 41, means for transmitting control messages and for receiving indicating messages, and a number of remote stations 12 each having message transmitting and receiving apparatus, air temperature sensing means 25, air flow regulating means 21 and means for connecting the transmitting means and receiving means to the sensing and regulating means, a single coaxial cable 14 connecting the central and remote stations to pass serial coded messages so that the temperature of the air at any of the remote stations can be indicated at the central station and the control means at any remote station controlled by the apparatus at the central station. At each remote station the flow regulating means consists of a fan 21 in the air duct which is controlled by signals on terminals 1. There are also an air temperature sensor 26 applying signals through a binary coded decimal coder to terminals 2, a heater for the air controlled by a signal on terminals 3, a sensor for air flow providing a signal at terminals 4 and a second air temperature sensor 33 providing BCD signals at terminal 5. The central station has corresponding apparatus: a fan control 40, a temperature indicator 41, a heater pump control 42, an air-flow indicator 43 and a duct temperature indicator 44. One of the remote stations is selected by push-buttons 50 and button 51 is pressed to execute one of the controls 40, 42 and button 52 causes the temperature and flow sensors to be scanned. The signals sent each consist of a series of twelve bits. For example a signal may contain a six-bit address and a motor start signal whereby the central station selects a remote station and starts the fan. The temperature values may be sent from the remote to the central station as three groups of four binary bits.
