Abstract
1302367 Valves H WATTS 11 May 1970 [15 Feb 1969] 8315/69 Heading F2V Hot and cold water mixing valve comprises a casing 1 having a cylindrical chamber, a tubular end cap 8 secured to the casing coaxially with the chamber and adjacent one end thereof, the chamber having hot and cold inlets 6, 7 opening to the cylindrical surface, and the end caps having at least one outlet port 12 through its sidewall. A piston 16 in the chamber extends through the cap for connection to a handle 17 to rotate the piston to select or mix the hot and cold water, and to move it axially to control the volume, A passage in the piston connects through a control port 28 with the inlets and at the other end through a radial port with the port 12. A series of axially spaced seals comprises one seal 32 between the inlets and outlet over which the radial port passes. The bottom of the piston is vented to the outlet through a restriction (35) Fig. 2 (not shown) to provide a dashpot effect.
