1300684 Alumina refractories ADVANCED MINERAL RESEARCH AB 19 April 1971 [1 April 1970] 25607/71 Headings C1A and C1J Refractories containing at least 50% Al 2 O 3 are obtained from a damp mixture of an alumina rich grog and 5-50% of fine activated Al 2 O 3 , by shaping, drying, and then steam hardening at 160-230‹ C., at 5-70 atmospheres for 1-24 hours. Optionals are slaked lime, Mg(OH) 2 , silica (with a specific surface exceeding 20,000 cm.<SP>2</SP>/cm.<SP>3</SP>) e.g. silica fume, Cr 2 O 3 , TiO 2 , ZrO 2 , BaO, BeO, P 2 O 5 , SrO, Y 2 O 3 and ZnO. The grog can be brick scrap.
